Buying the right laptop is always a difficult choice. Gaming laptops require higher specifications than standard laptops.

Gaming laptops differ from standard ones in higher graphics, processing speed, RAM, sound quality, resolution and screen size, and so on. Hence, choosing the perfect gaming laptop is no easy task.

Dell Alienware X15

For gamers, the Dell Alienware X15 is one of the best options you can get today. It offers an excellent combination of performance and elegant design considering its powerful features. The Alienware X15 is part of the new X Series and should be the pinnacle of the company's developments.

Of course, the Alienware X15 has some very powerful specs, including 11th Gen Intel Core H-series processors as well as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. That's about what you'd expect, but to keep things running cool and smooth, Alienware also created a completely new thermal paste - Element 31.

It's a mix of liquid gallium metal and silicone, and Alienware claims it performs 25% better than competing thermal solutions on the market. This means the laptop can stay cool longer and thus maintain peak performance longer without you noticing frame rate drops. Of course, you can also get up to 1TB SSD and 32GB of RAM.

Another big factor for gaming is a high refresh rate display, and the Alienware x15 delivers on that. It comes with a Full HD display with a minimum refresh rate of 165Hz, but you can upgrade to a 360Hz panel.

This also includes support for NVIDIA G-Sync and Advanced Optimus. One thing you might not like is that there are no options with higher resolution screens, but frame rate tends to be more important for many gamers.

One of the hallmarks of the Alienware x15 is its design. Somehow, these beefy specs fit a laptop that's less than 16mm thick, something that until recently wasn't available for a gaming laptop.

In addition to the new fuser, the fans and vents are designed to maximize airflow and cooling. This is facilitated by the fact that there are almost no ports on the sides of the laptop, making room for ventilation.

Instead, all ports are on the back, including two USB Type-C ports, one of which supports Thunderbolt 4, a USB Type-A port, and HDMI 2.1. It also frees up space next to the laptop for more free mouse movement during gaming sessions. Also on the back is an RGB backlit ring so you can customize the look of your laptop.

ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 15

ASUS makes great gaming hardware, and the latest ROG Strix Scar 15 is one of the best gaming laptops out there. On top of all the RGB lighting manipulation, the laptop is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX octa-core processor paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 16GB GPU with up to 130W of power consumption.

The laptop's 15.6-inch display is available in either a 1080p resolution with up to 300Hz refresh rate or a 1440p resolution option with a 165Hz refresh rate. It supports up to 64GB of 3200MHz DDR4 memory, two M.2 SSDs (1TB + 1TB) in RAID configuration, and supports up to 100W USB-C charging, in addition to the traditional charger.

ROG Strix Scar G15 is a powerful laptop and one of the best gaming laptops from the company with the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor and NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics cards.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

Just because Lenovo is mostly well known for its business laptops doesn't mean the company can't make a great gaming laptop too. The Lenovo 5 Pro is a powerful gaming rig with all the performance you'd expect, and it's a fantastic choice for anyone who wants to play games.

In terms of performance, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is the first laptop on this list to feature an AMD processor instead of an Intel processor, and it packs a Ryzen 7 5800H. It's a 7nm processor with eight cores and 16 threads that's great for both gaming and workloads like video rendering.

You can pair it with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 for an incredibly powerful combo that can handle just about any modern game without a hitch. You can also choose up to 32GB of RAM - more than enough for most modern games - and up to 2TB of storage with two SSDs. Modern games can fill that amount quickly if you play a lot, but it's still a lot.

The display is also good. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio and the only resolution is Quad HD+ 2560 x 1600. That's more than enough for a display of this size, plus you also get a 165Hz refresh rate. It also supports Dolby Vision, is Display HDR 400 certified, and has 500 nits of brightness so you get a really great screen.

The downside of this laptop is its webcam, which is only 720p resolution, with no IR camera for Windows Hello. In fact, there is no biometric authentication on this laptop, which is a downside these days.

Otherwise, the design is quite standard for a gaming laptop. You have plenty of ports, including two USB Type-C ports - no Thunderbolt since this is an AMD laptop - four USB Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, a headphone jack, and a branded charger. The laptop itself is somewhat heavy and not entirely thin at 28.85mm thick. However, this is to be expected from any gaming laptop.

HP OMEN 17

If you want to play the latest and greatest games, the HP OMEN 17 is the way to go. It delivers great performance in a sleek package that looks great.

First of all, let's talk about performance. You can get the OMEN 17 model with an Intel Core i9-11900H processor (maximum). This is an 8-core 16-thread processor capable of clock speeds up to 4.9 GHz.

In addition, you can choose a configuration with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, so it's safe to say that all your games will run flawlessly and probably at very high frame rates. In addition, you will get up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. If you're playing the latest AAA games, you might need some extra storage, but 1TB isn't too bad either.

Large 17.3" display available in multiple configurations. The base model includes a fairly standard Full HD display, but you can opt for a 144Hz refresh rate screen. Or get a Quad HD display with a refresh rate of 165Hz.

It's not as high as some modern laptops from other manufacturers, but at least you can be sure that your laptop will almost certainly be able to make full use of this display in most games.

The brightness of this display is around 300 nits, so it's not the best option for outdoor use, but that's unlikely considering how powerful this laptop is.

It is one of the few laptops available that can be equipped with an RTX 3080 laptop graphics card with up to 155W, and also one of the few available with a MUX switch. All of this makes the GE76 Raider the fastest gaming laptop we've tested so far, and one of the fastest you can buy, and it's clearly built for gaming and any workload that can benefit from that massive graphical potential.

The MSI GE76 Raider is the fastest yet most expensive gaming laptop, a significant step up from the ROG Scar 17 with RTX 3080 115-130W laptop GPU. There's also a MUX switch here, so Optimus doesn't affect frame rates.

The good news is that MSI offers the GE76 Raider in a variety of configurations ranging from 8-core Intel i7-10875H processors and RTX 3060/3070 graphics to 8Core i9-10980HK with RTX 3080 laptop dGPU, so buyers will be able to choose the version for their tasks, combined with their capabilities.

At the same time, MSI only offers a 300Hz FHD screen on this laptop, which is out of line with the hardware. Too bad you can't get 165Hz QHD or 4K 120Hz panels here, they fit a 150+W GPU.

Dell Inspiron 3501

The Dell Inspiron 3501 is a decent performer with a good configuration that can be found on a budget under $600,000

SSD drive, increases the speed of data processing. However, the 11th generation i5 processor is already quiet and fast. In addition, the 15.6-inch screen accommodates a keyboard with a separate numeric keypad for added convenience.

The Dell Inspiron 3501 delivers decent gaming performance. You can play Fortnite at 55fps at 720p and low settings. In addition, Battlefield V can be played at 29fps 720p and on low settings.

The design of the laptop is one of the best for laptops in this price range. The lifting hinge raises your device at an ergonomic angle for comfortable typing. In addition, Dell Comfort View LBL solutions reduce harmful blue light to improve eye comfort.
